About Us
Doug, a co-founder of Gizmos for Geeks, is known across the blogosphere and airwaves as the Chief Gizmateer. Always a lover of gadgets and technology in general, Doug has always prided himself as being a Geek and being proud of it.
In 1994, Doug became interested in the web and created one of the first collegiate web sites. The web site was featured in Que’s “Using the World Wide Web”. Back in 1994, a majority of web sites could actually still be featured in a printed book! A year or two later, Doug contributed a chapter of Que’s “Using Javascript” and provided a reviewer’s role in “How to Setup and Maintain a Web Site”.
As any true Geek can profess, a Geek has to have multiple hobbies. In addition to an interest in web technologies, information security and hacking gadgets have always been a passion of Doug’s. From building computers to modifying the firmware of an Archos 6000 to hacking multiple TiVos, Doug has always found a happy place amongst gadgets.
Khalid co-founded Gizmos for Geeks with Doug as a way to channel his enthusiasm for gadgets and technology in general. Having finished up a couple of Engineering degrees at the University of Pennsylvania, he went on to do a lot of computer consulting, and continued avidly following technology in general. When he met Doug, he knew he had found a fellow partner-in-crime. A self-proclaimed geek, he is only trying to become knowledgeable so that he can truly deserve the label! Khalid lives in sunny Southern California.
